A Birthday Party At School

Temalisi turned 6 today and wanted to share her big day with all her classmates.  She was the perfect hostess delivering a piece of her beautiful "Elsa" cake and a goodie bag to everyone.  The children all enjoyed your party Temalisi and loved playing with the balloons afterwards.  Thank you very much Temalisi

Our Olympic Flag Ceremony

At assembly we had an Olympic flag raising ceremony with the olympic flag carried into the hall and raised on a flag pole up on the stage.  The New Zealand flag was also carried in by a proud flag bearer.  The children chose to write and draw about this ceremony.

Rainbow Fish

This term we have had the theme to "Make Kindness go viral" - Wheoritia  te atawhai.  We read a story about Rainbow Fish and watched a video and we thought Rainbow Fish was so kind that he made kindness go viral.  This is what Jeyda and Tumanako thought.

"What's that car doing?"

At lunchtime Temalisi went out into the bay outside Room 16 and said "What is that car doing in our bay?"  We all watched and found out that Little Tractor's battery had gone flat and it wouldn't start.  "Has it got a battery like our iPads?" asked Tumanako.  "We have to charge them when they go flat," said Marius.  The car battery helped Little Tractor start and off he went to do another job.

Sharing New Learning

Temalisi learnt how to draw lines to write her story on her iPad.  Then she taught Hinemoa how to do it too.  That was really kind of you Temalisi to help others.

"See you do it like this, Hinemoa," said Temalisi.

Enjoying Gymnastics

Temalisi was able to make a beautiful bridge pose at gymnastics today.  She got her hands in the right place and pushed her body up high. Temalisi also practised her balance and finally was able to balance without any help.  You look so happy Temalisi.

A lovely high bridge pose

Helping Hands

Tumanako knows how to tie laces.  After gymnastics Temalisi needed a helping hand with her laces and Tumanako saw her problem and stepped up to help.  Well done Tumanako.  You know how to be a kind Pt Englander and have been helping lots of your class mates this week.  You are our Duffy Award person for week 3.

Healthy Milk Drinks

Twice a week we have milk to drink.  It comes in cartons with a straw.  We are learning to "Drink it dry.  Fold it flat.  Send it back."  We help each other with the folding as this is tricky for small hands.  Thank you Fonterra for a heathy treat. By Room 16

We had our first Team One Assembly for 2016 on Friday.  We sang some favourite songs and then certificates were awarded to two people in each class for their work during the week.  In Room 16 Marius was awarded a certificate for being focused in reading and being able to do follow up iPad activities by listening carefully to the instructions.  Temalisi was also awarded a certificate for correctly the letters in her name.

A great start to 2016 rewarded with a certificate.
