Our Inquiry topic has inspired the children to think about space travel and what rockets that travel between planets might look like. Abbey, Talanoa and Jaycob have used Hyper Studio to draw their ideas.
We read the story about Oscar and his best friend Quincy the dog. They moved to a new neighbourhood and Oscar found it hard to make new friends at school and Quincy found that no one wanted a new dog friend until Quincy has a great idea on how to solve their problem.
Talanoa wrote his story about the two best friends.
For most of Room 16 this was their first visit to Harold in his special classroom. The children learnt about food groups and were able to help Harold chose healthy food to give him lots of energy. They also enjoyed using their energy to dance to Harold's special song. It was sad to say goodbye to Harold but we look forward to meeting him again next year.
At assembly last week Mr Burt talked about how we need to be kind to each other. Alfonzo has been practising being kind to his classmates and helping around the classroom so he was Room 16's Term 3 Week 4 winner of the Duffy Certificate.
The children each received a Duffy Book to take home last week. They were able to choose their own book then they shared the books with each other. They were very excited to be able to take their book home to share with their families.

Evander was last weeks Duffy Certificate winner from Room 16. Evander has been putting in a good effort with all his learning. Keep up the good work Evander.
Jerome was busy with the Duplo, wondering what he could make when he decided to try and make a model of Harold. He thought about what Harold looked like by telling me a list of Harold's features - "he has a small face, four long skinny legs, a very long neck and a quite a skinny body." Jerome problem solved until he had a pretty good model of Harold. Well done Jerome for thinking the job through.
The children have enjoyed a new form of movement and music provided by Kiwi Sport in the form of dancing.
The children did warm ups and learnt to move all their body. Next they learnt some simple dance moves. They had great fun listening to a story then using the story line to put together some of the dance moves.
