AJ's Keeping Up With His Maths

AJ is keeping up with his Maths, thinking carefully what he needs to do and drawing diagrams to be able to explain his solutions.  Some of the questions were a bit tricky and needed you to think very carefully so well done AJ for getting them right.

Leylah Knows How To Be Polite

Leylah knows how to be polite and thank someone when they do something for her.  She drew a lovely picture with a speech bubble saying "thank you" to her aunt.  What a nice idea to use a speech bubble Leylah.  You have done a great job with your maths and designing your "loud shirt".

Leylah Decorates A "Loud Shirt"

Leylah has decorated her "loud shirt" and made a unique design.  No one else will have one that is the same.  You have made a beautiful "loud shirt" Leylah.  I look forward to seeing you wear it at our Friday meet.

Alexis Makes A "Loud Shirt"

Alexis has designed and made a beautiful "loud shirt" for our team meet tomorrow.  You are very clever to make such a beautiful shirt Alexis.  I like the hearts you have decorated around the neck with and the heilala flowers your have put on the front and the sleeves.

Leylah's Latest Work

Leylah does her home learning in a special book and writes the title of the book her work is based on each day when she begins her work.  That is a good way of being able to find your work each day Leylah.

Team One Decorates A Bucket Of Kindness

Team one has been talking about helping to fill a bucket of kindness.  Last week for Fun Friday we decorated buckets and brought them to our team meet.  Here is a movie of some of our beautifully decorated buckets.

Drawing A Story Map

Leylah has been very busy today doing maths, reading and writing work today.  For writing, Leylah had to listen carefully to the story "Handa's Surprise" then draw a map of the journey Handa took from her house to her friend Akeyo's house.  Along the way Handa met some hungry animals and Leylah has drawn the animals and the fruit the animals took from her basket.  Great home learning work, Leylah.

AJ Likes Maths

AJ likes the challenge of Maths and solving problems.  He has chosen to do the tricky maths and got it all right.  No wonder you are smiling .  Well done AJ.

Alexis Makes A Basket

Weaving with paper is quite tricky.  First you have to draw straight lines and then cut along them.  Next you need to make some strips with which to weave in and out of the slots.  That is a really difficult task for small fingers to manage but Alexis has succeeded and made a beautiful basket like Handa uses in the story "Handa's Surprise".  Well done for completing the fun task, Alexis.

Leylah Helps Out

Leylah has found more ways to fill her Mum's "bucket".  She has been helping to prepare dinner, fold the washing and do the vacuuming.  What a great helper you are Leylah.  I am so proud of you finding all these ways to help out at your place.

AJ Can "Add On"

What a great job you are doing with your maths AJ by "adding on" from the biggest number which you hold in your head.

Leylah's Neat Work

Leylah with all the work you have been doing your writing is becoming very neat.   When you write out your answers to the questions, you get even better at your hand writing.

Our Beautiful Decorated Buckets

Leylah made a beautiful bucket and has written some lovely kind bucket filler things on it.   You will fill lots of buckets with all those ideas, Leylah.

Alexis's Decorated Bucket

For Fun Friday Team one decorated buckets to go with our theme of filling a bucket with kindness.  Here is Alexis with her beautiful bucket.

Nuiean Language Week

Alexis is at bubble school and has been learning to count in Nuiean.  Here she is with the number one - taha.  It looks very colourful, Alexis.

AJ Likes A Challenge

AJ has now learnt to count in 5s up to 200.  Mr Ryan challenged him to learn to count in 5s higher than 100 so AJ set himself a goal to count to 200.  What a great goal to set yourself AJ and to achieve it so quickly.

A Minion Bucket

AJ made a delightful minion bucket for our Friday fun day.  He sent photos of how he made his beautiful bucket.

AJ Can Count in 10s

AJ has been practising how to count in 2s, 5s and now 10s.  At our team meet he even showed us he can count beyond one hundred.  Great practising AJ.

Leylah's Home Learning

Well done Leylah for answering the reading questions today and doing all the maths.  Some of the maths questions were tricky so it is good to see you trying to do them by drawing pictures to help you.

You have also done a lot of work on the "Mouse Paint" slides doing the reading, writing and maths.  Great work Leylah.   What a good idea to use a felt pen to go over the hidden words so that they stand out.

AJ's Work

Well done AJ for doing the maths problems.  I like the way you were able to do the equal sharing of cupcakes and what a good idea to draw all the socks and the count them.  Your bucket filling idea for today of sharing your toys is another good idea as you always have more fun when you share.

Team One Immersion Assembly Video

To begin the new term's Inquiry topic Team One teachers usually make a fun video to help explain what the topic is all about.  This time the teachers had to each make a video because we were still in level 3 and couldn't get together.  Ms Squires kindly put the videos together and added the special effects magic.

Leylah Is A Bucket Filler Too

Leylah has been busy with her Home Learning this term and she did something to help fill her little brothers bucket by helping him with the task of brushing his teeth so he won't get tooth decay.  She filled her own bucket by helping someone with a task they can't do themselves and she helped fill her Mum's bucket by being kind to her brother.  Well done for filling so many buckets - including mine by doing some lovely work.

AJ Answers the Mouse Paint Questions

I hope you enjoyed the story of "Mouse Paint" AJ. What a good idea to video the answers to the comprehension questions.  You got them all correct and showed how you had watched the video and understood the story.

Another Room 15 Bucket Filler

AJ found lots of ways to be a bucket filler and he wrote them down on a bucket shape.  He not only helps around the house filling his family's bucket but I like your last idea on your list AJ - to call your Grandad.  I think a call to your Grandad would fill his bucket right up!  You filled my bucket up too, seeing all your work.  Thank you AJ

AJ Counts in 2s and 5s

AJ has learnt how to count in 2s and 5s.  He was able to count up to 30 in 2s and up to 100 in 5s without stopping!  Great practise AJ.

Alexis Can Fill A Bucket

We are thinking about helping to fill other people's buckets by doing kind things for them.  Alexis wrote that she would help her mother do the washing.  What a good choice of helping with the washing.  That is always something that needs to be done.

AJ Playing Mary Had A Little Lamb

Music is such a fun thing to do AJ.  You are a good listener so you will be able to hear what notes you need to play.

Enjoying Our Duffy Books

Before lockdown we received some Duffy Books.  The children were very excited to receive such a gift or taonga.  Here is a video of some of the children in Room 13 and 15 with their Duffy Books.

Leylah Can Tie Her Shoelaces

Leylah has learnt to tie her own shoelaces.  What a good skill you have learnt Leylah.  It is exciting when you do things for yourself and you can also teach others.  You don't have to wait for an adult to help you now you can do it for yourself.  Did you learn the rhyme about the "bunny ears" (the loops of the laces) to help you?  Leylah is also continuing to keep fit and to do craft activities.

Wacky Wednesday Marvellous Mask Day

On the last Wednesday of Term we had a Marvellous Mask Day.  The children made some marvellous masks and here is how we looked at our meet.  Ms Lowans also made a movie of our masks.

Leylah's Holiday Art

Leylah loves doing art and craft activities.  She has posted lots of her wonderful creations on our blog and during the holidays she is continued to send in things she is doing.  You have been very careful with the paint not to get it over the edges of your drawing.  Painting is great fun but it is harder to do than colouring so well done Leylah.

AJ Says Thank You

Samsung kindly donated each team a Samsung Tablet for one student who had attended the Team and class meets and did home learning each day.  In Team One we had many students who did this and we would have loved to reward them all but we had to choose one so we put all their names into a hat and AJ's name was selected.  Congratulations AJ.  Here is a video that AJ sent me to say thank you.

Constructing A Marvellous Dinosaur Mask

Here are some photos showing how AJ (with some help from Dad) constructed a marvellous dinosaur mask to come to our Team Meet for Wacky Wednesday Marvellous Mask Day.  You were very lucky to get help to make such a great mask but I can see you did some cutting, gluing and painting too.
