Whaea Maryanne said we were all - HARIKOA which means happy.

Here are some other responses we learned that you might be able to practise with your whanau.

Visiting Camp

Forty eight small tents have appeared on our field and the children were eager to find out what was happening.  We went for a walk to visit camp and saw some of the children biking and having fun on the water slide.  They all thought camp looked like a great place to stay.
"Who is sleeping here?" asks Tone

"It must be fun sleeping in a tent with your friends!"

"That looks great fun.  I wish I had my togs," said Attah

Looking at the dinning area - "They are having cookies, fruit and milk for afternoon tea!"

"We have the magic!"

We have been practising using different tools on our iPads.  The children were very excited to use the shapes tools as they saw the shapes appear as if by magic.  Some found it tricky not to let go of the shape but to "draw it out" with their fingers.  I kept assuring them they too had magic fingers and if they kept trying, the shapes would appear.  Soon there was two excited voices saying they had the magic!  I liked the way they kept on trying even though it was tricky to start with.

Elena (on the left) and Taylor succeeded to draw shapes.

We Like Reading

Sitting outside reading a favourite book in the shade was a great way to fill in time while waiting for others to get ready for swimming.
Eli, Meria and Joelle love to read in the shade.

Team One Certificates for Week 5 Term 1

At swimming all the children have made great progress and become more confident in the water.  It was very hard this week to choose just two children for certificates when they all have done so well but Elevina and Rataimore received the certificates for their swimming.

Team One Certificates for Week 4

Jacob and Joelle were the Room 16 certificate winners.  Joelle has "helping" hands.  She looks around the class and see what needs to be done and then quietly goes about putting things in their place.  Thank you Joelle for helping to keep our class room neat and tidy.  Jacob got his certificate for listening carefully to the swimming instructor and doing as he was asked.  Great work Jacob.

"I can do it!"

Through the Kiwisport "Get, Set, Go " programme the children have been learning how to balance.  Some of the children have been finding this a difficult skill so we used our Engage skills of relaxing first and listening carefully to the instructions of looking straight ahead, not talking, aeroplane arms and gradually getting our balance on one leg then lifting it off the ground.  Suddenly there was a very excited voice saying, "I can do it!" as Attah listen carefully to the instructions.  Well done, Attah.
