Snacktime Super Heroes for Week 5 Term 3

Tamaimon and Cheveu had their names drawn out for being snack time super heroes this week.  Tamaimon received a coconut and Cheveu some Weet-Bix.

 

Wigs and Wacky Hair Day

Most of the children participated in our recent Wigs and Wacky Hair Day.  They enjoyed being able to wear their hair coloured and done in different ways and to make a contribution to Child Cancer.

 

Our Visit To Harold

Going to see Harold in his special classroom was very exciting for Room 16.  Here in our movie are some of the things that Harold taught us such as being a good friend, paying compliments to people, recognising emotions, where food comes from and what we need to do to be healthy and safe.

Working With Clay

 The children are enjoying working with clay at Makerspace.  They used tools to make patterns and work the clay.

Training for our Cross Country

 With our Cross Country races coming up, Team one have begun their training.  After doing some warm up exercises the children enjoyed following some older leaders around the school.

Snack Time Superheroes

 Maia and Titan had their names drawn out of the snack time super hero box this week.  Maia picked a coconut and Titan picked some baked beans. 

Making Marbles and Marble Runs

 At Makerspace the children made marbles out of clay.  They then took the marbles outside and made various marble runs out of tubes.  They had great fun rolling the marbles down the tubes and shoots, altering the angle of the tubes to see if they would run any faster.  The giggles and laughter told how much the children enjoyed their play.

 

Cheveu's Duffy Certificate

 Cheveu helped complete a wall poster in Harold's Life Education Caravan.  She answered some questions and helped put the pieces of the poster in the correct place.  Thank you for sharing your thoughts Cheveu.  You received Room 16's Duffy certificate this week.  I hope you enjoy your book.

Harley's Certificate

 Harley was able to give good explanations about how to show that a half is an equal share.  Good Maths thinking Harley.

Maia's Duffy Certificate

 This term we are learning about colour and our emotions.  Maia got a Duffy certificate for her sense of colour when choosing colours for her art work.  She also got a class certificate for being able to share information about emotions.  Well done Maia for sharing information with your classmates.

Happy Birthday Titan

 Titan was very excited about turning 6 today.  He has been counting down the days and on arrival at school this morning he told me "I am now 6.  I have turned 6."  Happy Birthday, Titan!

More Lucky Snack Time Heroes

 Three seems to be Room 16's lucky number with three children's names drawn out again this week.  Here are Te Hiritanga, Alaska and Titan with their choice from the cupboard.

Working With Clay

 A Makerspace this morning the children experienced a new medium - working with clay.  They were all very excited to be learning how to make something out of clay and eagerly showed what they had fashioned.

 Sabian and Alaska had fun at lunch time climbing up a tree.  "It's fun up here," said Sabian.  "You can see lots of things."
