Leakona's Writing

 Leakona has done two stories this week about Rosie the Hen.  I love your stories and pictures Leakona.  You have put lots of effort into your work.

Mareikura's Wonderful Writing

 This week the children have enjoyed the story of "Rosie's Walk".  It didn't take long for the children to spot the fox hiding under Rosie's little hen house and they loved seeing the fox getting into all sorts of bother.  We had a cut up sentence to make but Mareikura was able to write more about how the fox spied on Rosie.  She got two special stickers from Ms Hockly for her wonderful effort in writing.

Team Certificates

This week Titan and Leokona received certificates at our team meeting.  Titan has used his imagination making many different creative items with the Stickle Bricks.  He has been quietly creating, thinking through his designs and adapting them when necessary.  It is great to use your imagination Titan.  And Leokona has been hard at work too.  He has been reading each night at home and so when it came to his reading test he knew many of the words.  Ka pai, Leakona.

Using Their Imagination

 Titan and Sione "discovered" the Stickle Bricks this week and found by using their imagination they could build some wonderful things.  Here is Titan with a magnifying glass and a space flying machine and Sione made a different kind of plane.

"Can we take them home?"

We received our first Duffy Books for this year.  The children were so excited to hear that the books were for them and that they were allowed to take their books home to share with their families.   Thanks to Dominion Construction for their gift of wonderful taonga.

Sione's Duffy Certificate

 Sione has been kind to his classmates.  He has been helping tidy up the class so his table can go out to play quickly.  He has also been helping his teacher tidy up and get things organised.  Thank you Sione for your help.  It is appropriate that Sione receives a Duffy Certificate on Kindness Day.

Faauma's Team Certificate

Faauma has been coming to netball practises each day and has been listening to what Mrs Lal says.  Good work Faauma.  You are improving your netball skills.

 

A New 100 Grid

 We have been learning how to move on a grid and the describing it to a buddy.  First we used a paper grid and marked on it the route we took to move an object around a grid.  Then we used our magnetic shapes to make a grid and move around.  Later, we watched Mr Jacobsen paint a hundred square out in the bay.  It will be fun counting and moving around such a big square.

Harley's Telescope

 Harley found the marble run tubes made an excellent telescope.  He said pirates used telescopes to find land and so they could see the way to find treasure.  Great imagination, Harley.

Bees Know The Way

 Our Inquiry this term is We Know The Way.  Team one is learning about bees and how they know the way from the hive, to the flowers and back again.  Here is a video of our immersion assembly.

Leakona's Duffy Award

 Leakona has been working very hard in class.  He has been listening carefully to instructions and teaching points and putting effort into his learning.  A well deserved award Leakona.

Snack Time Hero

 Royston's name was drawn out of the snack time heroes box.  He was confident enough to go up, receive his prize and stand on the stage with the other winners.  Well done Royston.

Sione and Faauma's Certificates

This weeks certificates given out at our Team Assembly were awarded to Sione and Faauma for their good attitude towards their learning.  They are trying their best and putting effort into their work.  Ka pai Sione and Faauma.

  

New Hair Styles

Sione, Titan, Kairo and Harley all arrived at school on Monday with "spikey" hsair styles.  Boys, you all look very smart.

 

An Imaginative Robot

 Leakona used the magnetic shapes to make a robot.  You have used your imagination to make a great robot Leakona.

Practise, Practise, Practise

 When Leakona finished his work he decided to see how many words he could write.  What a great job you made of writing out words Leakona.

And Maia practised some of her doubles which we were learning in maths.  Great effort from both Leakona and Maia to do some practise in their own time.
