Happy To Be Back!

The children were so happy to be back at school for term 2 that they were sitting on the mat ready to start the day even before the bell went!

Swimming Like Fish

In term one the children had 8 swimming lessons at the Glen Innes pools.  They enjoyed walking over each day for their lesson. Thanks to the Glen Innes pool instructors.

Duffy Award Winner For Week 10 Term 1

Corenilias has been working hard to get his Inquiry project finished so he was awarded the Duffy Award for week 10 of Term 1.  He also shared his book with us and we learnt some fascinating facts about spiders.

Making Tall Towers

Ofili and Ace decided to make a tall tower out of Duplo to pass the time during a recent wet lunchtime.

A Lunchbox Hero Winner

Ofili was lucky to have his name drawn out of the lunchbox Hero draw box.  He chose a bunch of bananas.

Making the Year One Area

We went and watched the workmen putting up a fence to enclose the Year One playing area.  The workmen needed to dig big holes to put the fence posts up but it didn't take long before there was a fence and gates making us a nice safe area.

Putting to use our iPad skills.

In Maths we have been learning a quicker way of counting.  We had races and counting in twos is much quicker.  To practise counting in twos and to use all our iPad skills we took a photo of our friends.  We lassoed around the face and put the photos into a blank document so that we could count how many eyes 4 friends had.  It was a fun activity.

Team One Award winners for Week 9

Aj and Ofili were the Team One Award winners for week 9.  They have both been trying hard "to finish it off properly" getting tasks done before the end of term.

Many Hands Make Light Work

Following up our topic of All about Me in Inquiry, at Makerspace this week the children made a house and decorated it.  This involved measuring as well as craft skills such as folding and cutting.  The children were excited to be able to bring the house back to the class.

Mele is a kind and caring member of Room 16 and was awarded term 1week 9's Duffy Certificate.

Haircut Time

Filipo and Ofili both arrived at school sporting new haircuts.  "I went and had my haircut,"said Filipo.  "So did I!" said Ofili.  Your new haircuts look good.

Spiderman lunch boxes are very popular in Room 16 as Ofili, Filipo, Utukura and Darren show off their lunchboxes.
