Room 16 had a busy start to the year, then COVID intervened and some of us had to stay at home. Those of us at school have had fun learning, using our iPads, playing games and having ice blocks each Friday to celebrate another week of learning at school. Our movie is about all the children in Room 16. We miss our buddies at home and hope you enjoy seeing yourselves in our movie.
Team one has been learning about pictographs. First we looked at some pictures of cats and saw some were similar colours and some were different. So we looked at each picture and found we could put them into groups - ginger cats, white cats, black cats and grey. Putting them into columns we could quickly see how many cats were in each group. Next we put then into two groups of standing or sitting. Then Te Hiritanga thought of another way of grouping them - if they were outside or inside. So many ways to sort the cats.
Athena likes to climb up high in the tree outside our class. She likes to be up in the sky and watch her friends playing down below. Thank you Miss Kathy for the photo.
It is nice to see some of the children online each morning as they are working from home. Here is a screen shot of Mrs Lal with the children.
As we have changed seasons, today we listened to a story about a girl picking up leaves in Autumn. Each child got a cut up sentence from the story which they needed to unscramble and make sense. It required some thought and to hear - "Did it sound right?" and see - "Did it look right?" Here are some of the children hard at work.

Mrs Lal's class made some jelly. They invited Team One to share their jelly and ice cream. Here is Team one enjoying a tasty snack.
We like playing Memory type games. We learnt how to play the Shopping game. To play the game we each needed a "shopping list" and a "trolley". Remembering where the tiles were in the array was hard sometimes but Tamaimon found easy ways to remember and he filled his trolley first.
