Team One's Fun Day

A Fun Day at school is great.  You get to share the fun things like water slides and bouncy castles with your friends.  Then after our big picnic lunch Santa paid a visit so it looks as if it is getting very near to Christmas.

Mareikura's Duffy Certificates

Mareikura was a recent Room 16 Duffy Certificate winner.  I hope you enjoy your book Mareikura.

Team One's Trip To The Zoo

Going to the zoo is always fun.  But sharing a visit with your class buddies is even better.  As the day was a bit grey,  many of the animals were quite content to watch us watching them.  We got some good views of the animals and enjoyed our day at the zoo.

Room 16 Likes To Hide In Boxes

Some empty boxes appeared in our bay and the children decided they would be something exciting to play with.  They explored how they could squeeze into, through, over and under the boxes.  There was much laughter as they popped out of boxes or disappeared into them.  It is not only cats that like to hide in boxes!

Enjoying their Duffy Books

The children at Pt England school were fortunate to get some Duffy Books that they could take home to treasure and share with their whanau. Maia and Dion are very happy with their choices.

Engineers In Training

Leakona and Tamaimon found some tubes and join them together to make one giant tube.  They had fun making marbles run down the tube.  Then they wanted to find a way of making the marbles run further so they problem solved with some of the car things and found the racing car slope worked the best and made the marbles run further.  They had great fun with their trial and error problem solving.

Our fantastic Film Festival presenters all received a certificate in recognition of the effort they put in to present their class films at the recent film festival.  They gave up their lunchtimes to practise and it is not easy getting up in front of whole theatre of people and saying the lines they learnt.  Well done all of the presenters.  We are all very proud of you.

Good Friends

"A friend is one of the best things you can be and the greatest thing you can have."

                                                                                                                    Sarah Valdez

What makes a good friend?  There are many ways to be a good friend - sharing and having fun together, caring and being a good listener.  Friends are something we all need and as Raymond says in our movie "life would be boring without friends."  There would be no one to share things with or to play with.  Here are some of the ways Room 16 have thought of that you can be a good friend.

National ShakeOut Drill

New Zealand ShakeOut (Whakahaumaru Aotearoa) was our national earthquake drill held on Thursday 27 October.  It reminds us of the right action to take during an earthquake and like so many things we need to practise.  We even thought about what to do outside so we practised that too.

Harley and Titan practised "Drop. Cover, Hold" inside.

Team Certificates For Titan and Francis

Room 16 have been working very hard this week so it was difficult to choose just two people to get certificates.   Francis has been learning his numbers and can identify numbers up to one hundred and Titan has quiet and calm as he focused on his learning.  Well done to both boys.
