A Beautiful Butterfly

Leylah made a beautiful butterfly mask for our Wacky Wednesday Marvellous Mask Day.   She painted the butterfly and put feathers and glitter on it.  Then she very cleverly used a pair of sunglasses for its eyes.  What a good idea Leylah.

AJ Answers the Questions

AJ likes the game of Memory and he is very good at playing it.  He was able to explain the rules in this video.

He was also focused when he read the book about Miss Pool and was able to answer the questions about that story.  Good work AJ.

Today's Home Learning by AJ

AJ has had another busy day doing his home learning.  He managed to think of 10 words that started with the blend "pl"   Well done AJ.

Our Wacky Wednesday Crazy Hat Day

AJ Enjoys Room On The Broom

Aj must have listened carefully to the Room On The Broom story because he was able to answer all the questions enthusiastically.  Listen to his answers.

AJ's Marvellous Broom.

Today's learning was based on the book Room on the Broom.  AJ wrote a lovely story about wanting his Mum and Dad on the broom with a gold chair for Mum and rainbow chairs for Dad and AJ.  He designed a lovely broom and looked carefully at details such as the orange witch's hair.  Another day of good maths and writing work too

AJ.  Well done.

AJ's Map

AJ wrote a great story today using all the prepositions that Ms Squires suggested.  He then drew a map and illustrated it with the places he went to.  Well done AJ you have done a lot of work today.

Leylah's Map

Today's home learning was a bit different.  The children were asked to draw a map and describe how you would get somewhere.  Leylah did a very good job drawing a lovely map and doing all her writing.

AJ's Balloon Hovercraft

AJ has made a hovercraft out of a balloon , a CD disc and a bottle top.  Watch his video to see how it moves across a surface using the air from the balloon.  If you would like to make a hovercraft, AJ's sister Kensi has posted the instuctions on her blog.  (Go to Room 10's blogs and look for Kensi.). Thank you Kensi for helping AJ with this great science experiment and for blogging the instructions.

AJ Made A Colourful Vest

AJ made his vest colourful and he used shapes on it.  I think Monster would have been pleased to receive  a vest like this for his birthday,

Leylah's Designer Vest

Leylah designed a beautiful vest for her doll after listening to the story of "Monster's Vest".  It has hearts and flowers on it and she has carefully coloured it in.  You have also spent time doing your writing and maths.  Well done, Leylah.

Was It A Monster Truck?

In today's learning the children had to guess what was in a parcel and write a story about it.  AJ's guess was that it was a monster truck and it could come and play with his monster trucks.  AJ drew some of his trucks with their great big wheels to illustrate his work.

A Level 3 Treat.

For a Level 3 breakfast treat AJ had some waffles.  They look so delicious and healthy AJ with all those berries.

The Cat In The Hat Comes To Our Meet!

Today was Wacky Wednesday hat day and for hat day AJ made not only a beautiful Cat in the Hat stripped hat but he dressed up like the cat with a red bow tie and his black and white body and had a cat face too.  You looked very special as if you had just walked out of the Cat In The Hat book but you didn't do any of the naughty things that Cat does.  I hope you enjoyed making your costume AJ.

Alexis Made a Beautiful Hat

For our Wacky Wednesday Crazy Hat Day, Alexis made this beautiful hat with balloons, flowers and a rainbow.  You had some good ideas for your hat Alexis.

AJ's Challenge

AJ found a game on line and thought it sounded rather interesting - you could make it yourself at home and it helped exercise both sides of your brain.  AJ made the game using 4 small balls of foil and 8 plastic spoons.  AJ now challenges his buddies to see how they go playing the game.  It is not as easy as it looks!  Watch the video and see if you can accept AJ's challenge.

Thanks to Kensi for narrating the video.

AJ continues to do reading, writing and maths each day for his home learning.  You continue to do so much work AJ.  I hope you were able to go for a ride on your two wheeled bike.

Leylah Made Two "Harry" Dogs Too.

Leylah made two beautiful Harry dogs from the story "Harry the Dirty Dog".  One was Harry the white dog with black spots and the other was Harry the black dog with white spots.  I like the way you have decorated the dogs and added doggie features.  They both look friendly just like the dog in the book.  You have also been very busy answering the questions and doing word work.  Great work Leylah.

AJ Made Two "Harry" Dogs

AJ was very clever and made two stand up dogs after reading about Harry the Dirty Dog.  Making a stand up dog is quite tricky because if you cut along the fold of the dogs back you can end up with two separate dogs and they won't stand up.  So well done for making a clean Harry and a dirty Harry..  You are also very clever at thinking of things that begin with the letter "H" and the maths really was a bit hard but you didn't give up.  Drawing those diagrams is a great idea to help solve the problems.

AJ Has Learnt A New Skill

During lockdown we were all encouraged to learn a new skill.  AJ set himself the task of learning to ride a  two wheeled  bike and he has succeeded.  It took lots of practise but he can now ride a bike by himself.  Well done AJ.  Riding a bike is really good fun and guess what - once you know how to ride a bike you won't forget!  Thanks Mum for the lovely movie.

Alexis Made A Taniwha

After seeing Mrs Shirley's taniwha, Alexis made one for herself out of an egg carton.  She called it Aroha.  I like your taniwha's curly red tongue, Alexis.

School Is Fun

Some of the children in Room 15 started school at the beginning of Term 3 so they have spent more time in lockdown than at school.  To remember what fun it is at school, here is a movie about a few of the fun things we did at school before the lockdown.  Enjoy seeing your buddies!

AJ's Writing and Maths

AJ has been doing writing practise, writing and illustrating his story and some basic facts as well as making his taniwha.  You have been very busy today AJ.

AJ's Taniwha

For Home Learning on Friday, Mrs Shirley put up the book "Hoha the Taniwha" with instructions on how to make a taniwha.  AJ made one out of an egg carton and one out of a sock.  You have been very creative AJ and what a great way to finish Wiki o te Reo Maori (Maori Language Week).
