Looking at Coding

We have been having fun learning about directions and looking at coding by playing some simple coding games about getting a bee to the hive and avoiding things that are harmful to them.  We also played a game with pirates.  The children have enjoyed thinking about moving on a grid and they have been helping each other get the directions correct.

"What is this for?"  Isabella guessed it was like a map.  Good thinking Isabella

Learning to do Animations

Mrs Carruthers has been teaching us how to do animations on our iPads.  We took a selfie photo on our iPad then drew a bee body.  On another page we drew some flowers in a garden.  The next step was to put the bee in the garden being careful to lock all the parts of the bee before putting it in the garden.  It was like magic when it appeared in the garden.  The fun bit was making up a sentence about what our bees were doing and recording it as we moved our bees around.

Bees Are Amazing Term 2 2019 PENN Movie

"Bees are really amazing insects.  They help flowers, food crops and trees grow and we use their honey.  They may look small and cute but they are very hard working.
A bee can fly up to 9 kilometres to find pollen and nectar to take back to the hive.  When it finds a good source the bee shows the other bees how to find the nectar.  It does a "waggle dance" to show the position of the flowers in relation to the sun and the hive.
Bees are important and we need to look after them."

Utukura's Duffy Certificate

Utukura has been helping me tidy up the classroom after school while he waits for his sister to collect him.  He wasn't asked to help but he saw the chairs weren't up and some of the things weren't in the right place so he decided to use his "helping hands" to help.  Thank you Utukura for seeing what needed to be done and doing something about it.
