Team Certificates for Term 2 Week 11

Peyton and Rataimore were our team certificate winners this week.  Peyton has been getting on with work and making sure she gets things finished while Rataimore has been trying hard to write down the letter sounds that she hears.  Keep up the good work both of you.

Animal Yoga Poses

As part of our Engage programme we have been doing some animal yoga poses.  We found if we did our breathing exercises first to get ourselves feeling calm then it was much easier to stand on one leg like a flamingo.  Also if we focused on something that didn't move but looked straight ahead it was so much easier to balance.
Olivia hung upside down like a bat

Rataimore found standing like a flamingo was easy

Elena used her "outstretched wings" for balance

Look What I Can Do!

Rataimore was able to follow the gymnastics coaches's instructions to balance on her tummy and put her toes up by her head.  You are very flexible, Rataimore and good listening to be able to do the exercise.

Getting Ready For Our Class Photo

On Monday we had our class photo taken.  We were asked to get in height order from tallest to smallest.  It was easy as we have been learning about how to compare how tall we were with a friend so we were able to quickly get the job done.

Team Assembly Certificate Day

We are finally back to having team assemblies again!  It was nice having Thursday certificates again to reward the children who have been working hard in class.  It is always hard to decide who to give certificates to when everyone is working so hard but Ms Hockly says - just two!  This week Bavin has been planning his stories and trying to use his letter sounds to write words that he doesn't know.  Elena has done some exceptional work in Maths.  When I tested her she really thought hard before answering and in class discussions she was able to add more information and help other people see why she thought an answer was a better one.  Well done for your hard work this week Bavin and Elena.

This is how we did maths today!

We are learning about measuring in maths.  We found out you could compare two things to see which thing was the bigger.  So now we are at level 1 and we can be near one another we decided to compare how tall we are compared to our friend.  Then we all stood in a line and found out who was the tallest and who was the smallest.  This is how we look!

School is Back!

We are very happy to be back at school - learning, seeing our friends and having fun.  It is the same class but it is all a bit different.  We know about "My place, my space" but we are so glad to be back.  Here are some of the things we have been doing over the last two weeks.

Samoan Language Week

This week has been Samoan Language Week.  We have not been able to do the activities in the lunch hour that we normally do to celebrate Samoan Language Week but we have had items on PENN and on Friday at our live streamed assembly we did have the samoan group dancing.  In our class we made some cutout paper flowers using a traditional pattern as well as some printed flowers.
