Chevelle's Amazing Body Story.

"The brain had to be protected."  By Chevelle

We have been learning about our amazing body.  Harold show us the digestive system and what happens to our food but we wanted to find out why some of our body felt squishy and some parts felt hard.  We learnt that we have a skeleton made up of 206 bones and that some of these bones help protect the vital organs underneath them.  Chevelle did a great job of illustrating a skeleton with the details of the ribs and skull and remembering that the brain needs to be protected.

Ned's Kindness Adventure

We were fortunate to have Ned's Kindness Adventure visit Pt England this week.  It was very timely as we have been talking a lot about kindness and treating others with kindness.  The children found the show very engaging and from the discussions and writing that followed they learnt a lot from the show.

Our Fog Stories

Today it was rather foggy when the children arrived at school.  They looked across the playground and commented that the playground had disappeared so we used a photo I took as motivation for their writing.  There was some great ideas expressed.

"I can not see the playground because it is foggy today.  It is like the clouds have come down low"
By Logan

"I can see a lot of fog all the way around the sun.  It looks like a ghost."
By Samson

"The fog has camouflaged the playground."
By Chevelle

"I can see the fog.  It is blocking the sun."

New Winter Woollies

Bernie and Denise have very kindly donated some warm winter woollies for the children.  They were very excited to get such a lovely gift and proceeded to put them on.  It was lovely to see the children arriving at school looking snug and warm.  Thank you Bernie and Denise for your thoughtful gifts.

Arriving at school in their new winter woolies are Chevelle and Siulua.

A Visit To the Whare Fono

Today we went to the Whare Fono for te Reo with Whaea Francis.  We introduced ourselves to Whaea Francis, learnt to name some parts of the body and sang a waiata.  Thank you Whaea Francis for the fun lesson.
