Room 16's Lunch Box Hero
Maria has been bringing a healthy lunch to school and so her name went into the draw to be a lunch box hero. She was lucky to be one of the 10 children to have her name drawn out and she chose the box of strawberries. Enjoy the lovely fruit Maria.

Maria's Duffy Award
Maria knows how to be a good group member in Maths. She has been helping her group by sharing ideas on how to solve a problem and using her number knowledge to help others with their counting. She is beginning to feel confident enough to ask questions in her group. Well done Maria.

Niue Language Week 2018
As it was Niue Language Week last week we had children teaching us how to say greetings, the days of the week and how to count on PENN. The children immediately saw a similarity with te Reo. On Friday the Niue Cultural group performed for us at Assembly and Maria was a member of the group.

Planning and Constructing A Marble Run
On the last day of term the children had fun using what they had learnt during Term 2 Inquiry to build a marble run. They were soon busy planning and building, cutting and taping up boxes and bits and pieces. The fun part was testing out the marble runs and looking at what other groups had made and getting the other groups to explain how they had made their marble run. It was a fun end to our simple machines inquiry.

Gardening with Mr Vogt
At Makerspace we are learning about respect for our environment. The garden in front of our class is looking very dry and sad so Mr Vogt suggested we dig the soil over, replenish it with some potting mix and add some "worm food" to see if we can grow some plants. The children were very enthusiastic diggers and manage to make a good patch to plant some strawberry plants in and make it look more like a garden again.

Going To Makerspace
Room 16 went to Makerspace for the first time this year and made fans. They were able to decorate them by writing and drawing on them with felt pens. They were both decorative as well as being very useful to try and keep cool in the warm, muggy weather Auckland is experiencing at the moment.
