Team Assembly Certificates

Anne Marie has been putting in effort with her learning so she was awarded a Team Assembly certificate.   Mariposa is always an enthusiastic member of Room 16 so he was also a recipient of a team certificate.  Chevelle always has a great positive attitude towards her learning, quietly getting on with her work.  Well done Chevelle.

Team Assembly Certificates in Week 4 and 5

During Team Assembly Chevelle received her birthday certificate as she has turned 6.  Happy birthday Chevelle!  Logan has been helping others during maths to solve problems so he was the other certificate winner from Room 16.

In week 5 Chevelle was awarded another certificate for her acting in our class movie.  She did a good job listening to what she needed to do. Tupou has been trying hard to use the Pt England Way.  You have been kind to others Tupou which helps others be kind too.

Chevelle's Amazing Body Story.

"The brain had to be protected."  By Chevelle

We have been learning about our amazing body.  Harold show us the digestive system and what happens to our food but we wanted to find out why some of our body felt squishy and some parts felt hard.  We learnt that we have a skeleton made up of 206 bones and that some of these bones help protect the vital organs underneath them.  Chevelle did a great job of illustrating a skeleton with the details of the ribs and skull and remembering that the brain needs to be protected.

Our Fog Stories

Today it was rather foggy when the children arrived at school.  They looked across the playground and commented that the playground had disappeared so we used a photo I took as motivation for their writing.  There was some great ideas expressed.

"I can not see the playground because it is foggy today.  It is like the clouds have come down low"
By Logan

"I can see a lot of fog all the way around the sun.  It looks like a ghost."
By Samson

"The fog has camouflaged the playground."
By Chevelle

"I can see the fog.  It is blocking the sun."

Planning and Constructing A Marble Run

On the last day of term the children had fun using what they had learnt during Term 2 Inquiry to build a marble run.  They were soon busy planning and building, cutting and taping up boxes and bits and pieces.  The fun part was testing out the marble runs and looking at what other groups had made and getting the other groups to explain how they had made their marble run.  It was a fun end to our simple machines inquiry.

Rewards For Their Good Efforts.

Chevelle and Feiloaki were awarded the Room 16 Team One Assembly certificates for their efforts with their work.  Chevelle knows how to get on with tasks and she complete them. Feiloaki has been using a more positive "I can" attitude with his writing and reading.  Keep up the good work Chevelle and Feiloaki.

This is one of Feiloaki's stories about rippa rugby.

Fiafia 2018

For several weeks last term, the whole school was practising cultural and dance routines to preform on the stage for our whanau and community.  Every two years all the children in the school choose a cultural or dance group to join and everyone is expected to get up on the stage and share part of their culture.  The children were very excited to participating in their first Fiafia and even though the weather was against us they all had a wonderful experience.  Video clips can be seen on the link on the Pt England School web site.
