Player of the Day Week 3

Adrianna was selected as the netball player of the day for the Roses in week 3.  She intercepted passes, defended the goal and was ready to receive passes helping her team to a win.  She had been listening to the coach at practices.  Well done Adrianna.  Adrianna gets to keep the trophy for the week and received a medal to keep as well as a certificate.

Roses First Game

Jeyda and Adrianna had their first game of netball.  It was exciting getting a uniform and taking the court with friends from year 1.  All the girls played well and helped each other get the ball passed down the court to put the ball through the hoop.  At assembly on Friday Jeyda was very excited to find she was player of the day for week one.

Starting Netball

Three girls from Room 16 - Vika, Jeyda and Adrianna, are in the Year One Roses netball team.  They had their first training session today with Coach Winnie.  With the help of two older girls the team practised ball skills and how to move the ball around the court.  Good lucky for Thursday when the team play their first game up at the Auckland Netball Courts.

I luminate Visit

i luminate at PES from Team 5 PES on Vimeo.
Mr Burt always says "You never know who is watching!" and that was the case of a visit to Pt England by a member of the American Embassy.  She was so impressed with what she saw that she invited her friends to preform for us and what a performance it was!
Yesterday we all went into the hall and sat in the dark and waited for something to happen.  Wow did it happen.  The dancers had special glow in the dark suits and they were amazing.  Enjoy watching a small segment of their show.

Touching The Clouds

Last week we had a foggy start to the day which provided us with a great motivation for our writing.

"I saw funny clouds.  They looked beautiful.  I liked them because they looked soft and fluffy and white.  They were so close I could touch them.  They were wet and cold."  By Charlotte

"The sun touched the clouds and made it all foggy." By Tevita

"The fog was all around.  It covered the slide and made it wet." By Hinemoa

Jin thought the fog "was like when you are cooking and there is a lot of steam."

Tumanako said he felt "the low cloud made things disappear.  When you are running around you feel as if you are touching the sky."

Boom Chicka Rock Fun

MOV09842 from Team 5 PES on Vimeo.
We enjoyed reading about the mice adventures in John Archambault's book "Boom Chicka Rock" with Max the cat.  It had lots of rhymes as well as lots of mice dancing and doing the boogie.  We laughed when Flaminio our gymnastics coach taught us the song and got us to sing and repeat after him in funny voices.

New Books for a Holiday Read

Raven from Mai FM came to school for a Duffy Assembly.  She told us how important it is to read and how her love of reading helped her study and get a job in radio.  We sang the Duffy song to her then each class got  a box of books.  We were very excited to choose two books to take home and share with our families over the holidays.  We are very lucky to get these books from the Duffy Foundation.

Duck, Duck, Goose

Our favourite game is Duck, Duck, Goose.  We invited Room 17 to join us for a game on the last afternoon of term.  We made a big circle because there were so many of us which meant we had fun running a long way to get "home".  Thank you Room 17 for joining us for some fun on the last day of term.
