Studying Zoo Animals

Team 1 are off on a trip to the zoo soon so we have been studying some of animals we will see.  This week we looked at lions and the children have already learnt a lot of facts about them.

"Lions can roar loud and he has teeth like a vampire.  The lion can run really fast.  He has a big wide mouth and sharp teeth to eat his food."  By Najari

"The lion looks camouflaged in the yellow grass."' By Ashley

"The lion is a golden yellow like the grass he lives in.  He eats meat."  Dictated by Journey Lee
Kamryn took a photo and typed her story on her iPad.

"Father Lion has a furry mane around his head.  It is a messy golden mane." By Teejay

"Shakeout" Day

National Shakeout Day was time to practise what to do in the event of an earthquake.  It provided us with a topic to write about and Kamryn wrote a story about what we had to remember to do.

"In the Shakeout practice when the funny noise played on the speaker we had to drop, cover and hold.  An earthquake is like something shaking on the ground and we got under the table because we need to get down under cover and hold on to the table." By Kamryn

We also thought about what to do if we were outside so we practised what "Drop and Cover" would be like outside.  We quickly moved away from the buildings into the middle of the field dropped down and covered our heads.  Room 16

Learning Taekwon-Do Skills

Room 16 had great fun learning new skills that are needed to practice Taekwon-Do.  We needed to warm up our bodies by stretching our muscles.  Then we learnt to jump up high and jump along between the lines.  We twisted and hopped.  We learnt to use our legs and our arms. By Room 16

Three girls from Room 16 were in the production of Cindy in Da House.  They went to the auditions and practices for several weeks learning two very different dances.  They enjoyed getting dressed up, putting on make up and dancing in front of their friends and family.  Well done girls for the effort and commitment you put in to your first production.
