Maria's Duffy Award

Maria knows how to be a good group member in Maths.  She has been helping her group by sharing ideas on how to solve a problem and using her number knowledge to help others with their counting.  She is beginning to feel confident enough to ask questions in her group.  Well done Maria.

Practising For Athletics

With the weather becoming finer we started to practise for athletics.  We have a rotation on a Friday afternoon practising sprints, jumping and throwing.

Te Wa Toi

This term's art theme is already very popular in Room 16.  We have started looking at different forms of art not just painting and being able to go and create something on the art table has proved very popular.

Paper Weaving At te Reo

As Art is our Inquiry topic this term Whaea Francis showed the children a video of weaving with harakeke.  They were fascinated at what you could make out of flax.  As a first attempt at weaving we used strips of paper.  This was an activity we had done in class so the children quickly showed off their skills to Whaea Francis.

Duffy Certificate Term 4 Week 1

Maggie wrote a lovely thank you card after our visit to the Zoo.  Maggie took care in making her card the best she could.  She found, and wrote very neatly, all the words she needed and she did a beautiful picture.  Well done Maggie for such a nice way to say thank you.

Niue Language Week 2018

As it was Niue Language Week last week we had children teaching us how to say greetings, the days of the week and how to count on PENN.  The children immediately saw a similarity with te Reo.  On Friday the Niue Cultural group performed for us at Assembly and Maria was a member of the group.

Biking Again!

There was much excitement when it was announced that all the muddy puddles on the bike track have been fixed and the children can now use it again.
