Training to be Champions

Training for our cross country means we need to warm up our muscles, follow the leader jogging around the school three times and then warm down.  We are getting better at pacing ourselves so we are not so puffed.

Our Olympic Flag Ceremony

At assembly we had an Olympic flag raising ceremony with the olympic flag carried into the hall and raised on a flag pole up on the stage.  The New Zealand flag was also carried in by a proud flag bearer.  The children chose to write and draw about this ceremony.

"In the hall I saw the Olympic flag up on the stage because it is the opening ceremony tomorrow." By Jarra

"Tomorrow is the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Brazil.  They are in Rio." By Tumanako

"Today I am excited because it is going to be the Olympics and I saw cool people holding fire sticks to light the Olympic flame."  By Marius

Rapunzel's Tower

On a recent wet lunch hour Jarra made a tower for Rapunzel out of duplo.  The tower was very solid with an opening window for Rapunzel to look out of.  Rapunzel would need very long hair to touch the ground as the tower was very tall.

Learning to type

Some of the children are learning how to type up their stories on their iPad and are finding this a handy skill.

"It is quicker to type up the words than writing them down," said Marius.

"You need to look carefully for the letters you need," said Jarra

Charlotte is "publishing" her favourite story of the week.

Using our iPads

We got to write our names on our iPads by listening carefully on how to get into Explain Everything then finding the pencil.  Later we used our iPads for maths and wrote numbers.  It is not easy writing some of our names which are rather long on a small iPad but we soon managed to find a thinner pencil and writer smaller.  Here are some of our efforts.
