Our Last Netball Games

We played our last two games for the season last night and won both games.  The girls played so well that it was too hard to pick just one player of the day for the last game.  For the first game Adrianna was great at shooting goals so she was given the player of the day certificate.

Writing to Harold

Harold and Lynn are going to another school to teach more children how to be fit and healthy.  We enjoyed going to Harold's special classroom to learn about what we should do to keep ourselves healthy.  We decided to write and thank them.  This is what Jin and Adrianna wrote:

Player of the Day Week 3

Adrianna was selected as the netball player of the day for the Roses in week 3.  She intercepted passes, defended the goal and was ready to receive passes helping her team to a win.  She had been listening to the coach at practices.  Well done Adrianna.  Adrianna gets to keep the trophy for the week and received a medal to keep as well as a certificate.

Roses First Game

Jeyda and Adrianna had their first game of netball.  It was exciting getting a uniform and taking the court with friends from year 1.  All the girls played well and helped each other get the ball passed down the court to put the ball through the hoop.  At assembly on Friday Jeyda was very excited to find she was player of the day for week one.

Starting Netball

Three girls from Room 16 - Vika, Jeyda and Adrianna, are in the Year One Roses netball team.  They had their first training session today with Coach Winnie.  With the help of two older girls the team practised ball skills and how to move the ball around the court.  Good lucky for Thursday when the team play their first game up at the Auckland Netball Courts.

New Books for a Holiday Read

Raven from Mai FM came to school for a Duffy Assembly.  She told us how important it is to read and how her love of reading helped her study and get a job in radio.  We sang the Duffy song to her then each class got  a box of books.  We were very excited to choose two books to take home and share with our families over the holidays.  We are very lucky to get these books from the Duffy Foundation.

Two more days to the Fiafia!

"Yay, only two more days to the Fiafia!" said all the children in Room 16 when we counted down the days until 7 April.  The whole school is involved in the cultural festival and have spent the last 4 weeks practising their singing and dancing or musical items.  Even the 5 year olds are in cultural items.  They are so looking forward to being up on the stage and showing everyone what they have been learning.

"I am excited to dance in front of my family.  I want to do my very best," said Jeyda.

"My whole family is coming to see me in my special costume," said Adrianna.
