Using Your Imagination

On a wet lunch hour the children saw different possibilities when playing with the bristle bricks.  Alarmanda, Abbey and Talanoa made fidget spinners while James made a plane.

This is What Happened during Assembly!

Today during assembly the fire alarm rang.  Room 16 knew what to do.  They quietly and quickly went outside and lined up waiting for the roll to be called.  Then we got the message that we could go back into assembly.  On our way back inside we saw the fire engine and the firemen.  It was all very exciting and proved to be good motivation for our writing.

Making Kite Tails Fly

At Makerspace the children are making kites.  They tested materials to see what would make good kite tails and found crepe paper was light enough to fly and so would make good kite tails.

Muddy Puddles

With all the rain Auckland has experienced lately, our playing fields have become a little muddy in places.  While mud is great to slush around in and attracts children like a magnet, Mr Burt asked the children to stay out of the mud and the puddles so that the grass did not get damaged.  The children were very good and remembered to keep out of the puddles at playtime and lunchtime.

Wheels and Whacky Hair Day

It was a different day at school when you don't have to wear school uniform and you can bring your bike or scooter to school.  The children enjoyed whizzing around the school at lunchtime.

Looking After Ourselves

Nurse Amy came to talk to us at our team assembly.  She talked about her job as a nurse at Pt England and told the children what she does when they report a sore throat.   Alarmanda was very brave and helped Nurse Amy show the children how she takes the children's temperature.  Thank you Alarmanda for helping Nurse Amy.

Milk and Fruit

Having a mid morning snack of milk and fruit is a great brain break for the children.  They learnt to "drink it dry, fold it flat and send it back" - the milk cartons are recycled into roofing tiles so the cartons need to be completely emptied and folded flat.  The cartons proved to be quite difficult to fold for small hands but with more practise it won't be so difficult.

A Beautiful Day At The Beach

All of Pt England School spent a day down at Pt England Reserve and beach on Friday.  It was a beautiful sunny day made for swimming, digging in the sand, playing ball games, playing in the playground and having a picnic with your friends and families.  There were some very tired children walking back to school after such a fun filled day but the chatter about their day showed how much they had enjoyed the school picnic.  Many thanks to all the parents who came and helped out.  Special thanks to Flynn's Mum and Dad who helped Room 16.

The children were excited to see the octopus kite take to the air.

Our First Team Assembly

Alarmanda and Marzuli with their certificates.
We had our first Team One Assembly on Friday.  Two children from each class were rewarded for their work.  Alarmanda and Marzuli received certificates from Room 16.  Alarmanda has been trying hard with her reading and Mazuli has been enthusiastic about trying all activities.  Keep up the good work, Alarmanda and Marzuli.

Learning to use our iPads

Each day we are learning new skills on our iPads.  Today we had fun learning to use the camera in Explain Everything.  We took photos of things in our class and our friends and then learnt how to put more than one photo on a page.  The smiles show how much the children are enjoying learning to use their iPads.

Alarmanda was able to put two photos on one page.
