Te Wa Toi

Everyone was very busy over term four producing some great art work for Te Wa Toi.  We explored colour - mixing primary colours to produce secondary colours, using hot and cold colours to produce some interesting results.  We also looked at texture, stencilling, used pastels, water colours, acrylic paint, cutting and gluing, folding and weaving.  Here are a few examples from our works of art.

Making Christmas Cards

Room 16 have been busy making a Christmas card for a special helper in our class.  They all did a great job of very carefully colouring in, cutting out and assembling a Christmas elf on the front of the card and then wrote their message inside the card.

At the Santa Parade by Tupou

"I went to the Santa Parade.  There were lots of people and some were dressed up as penguins.  Presents are from Santa.  Some people call him Father Christmas.  On the Christmas tree there are baubles and decorations."  Story by Tupou

Christmas Treats

One of the Prefects Friday korero was to "finishing it off properly" meaning to get all your work finished, saved or published before the end of the year.  Room 16 was busy doing just that and were rewarded for "finishing it off properly" with some Christmas treats.

Outstanding Attendance Awards

Four children from Room 16 received Outstanding Attendance Certificates at our last Team Assembly.  Alexandra, Anne Marie, Feiloaki and Samson came to school more than 90% of the days that school was open and their learning benefited from such regular attendance.

Tupou is a Lunch Box Hero

Tupou's name was drawn out of the Lunch Box Hero's box recently.  He choose a box of Weet-Bix from the cupboard.  Tupou knows that a healthy lunch helps him learn better so he brings a healthy lunch each day.  Well done, Tupou.

Sports Award for Anne Marie

Anne Marie received the Player of the Day award for the Sparkles Netball team back in the netball season but was away when the certificate was given out.  She finally received it at the end of the term.

Alazye's Film Festival Story

Alazye drew a colourful picture of Room 16 in the bus going to the Manaiakalani Film Festival to enjoy watching our movie on the big screen at Sylvia Park.
