New Boots

The weather has been wet and it is starting to get cooler in the morning so Jeyda came to school wearing a beautiful pair of new boots.

"They are special because these boots are for rainy days.  They have pink roses on them."  By Jeyda

Your boots look very pretty Jeyda and they will keep your feet dry when it is wet.

Camping in a Tent

On Tuesday morning a tent town suddenly appeared on the field.  There was one marque tent and lots of smaller tents that were occupied by the very excited Year 5 and 6's who are having their camp at school.  Unfortunately it has turned rather windy.  The children talked about what it is like to be in a tent when the wind blows and wrote some great stories.  This is Khyani's one.

"The walls of the tent wobbled like a jelly in the wind." By Khyani

What an interesting comparison Khyani as the tent walls would certainly be wobbling and shaking with the wind.

"I like the old one because of the colours."  By Adrianna

Drawing Our Flag

Adrianna and Jeyda illustrated their stories by trying to draw our flag.

"It is hard to draw," said Jeyda

You are right Jeyda, it is quite a tricky flag to draw with lots of detail.  You both did a good job of trying to draw the flag.

Learning to type

Some of the children are learning how to type up their stories on their iPad and are finding this a handy skill.

"It is quicker to type up the words than writing them down," said Marius.

"You need to look carefully for the letters you need," said Jarra

Charlotte is "publishing" her favourite story of the week.

Learning How to Duplicate

Learning how to duplicate from Team 1 PES on Vimeo.
We have been using our iPads to learn about doubles in Maths.  We needed to learn how to duplicate the beans so that we had the same amount of beans on each side of our equation.  Jin was very excited to be able to duplicate the beans and showed some of his group how to do it.

Sharing New Learning

Temalisi learnt how to draw lines to write her story on her iPad.  Then she taught Hinemoa how to do it too.  That was really kind of you Temalisi to help others.

Wet Day Fun

It was suppose to be our picnic day but it was too wet for a picnic.  Room 16 decided to use our iPads to take pictures of the rain and write a story while staying dry inside.

An Inside Picnic

Today we were suppose to have our school picnic down at the PT England Reserve but the rain put a stop to it.  We decided to be like Sam in our reading book "Sam's Picnic" and have an inside picnic.

"Inside picnics can be just as much fun as outside picnics," said Gabriella.

We all had fun keeping dry and eating our yummy picnic food. Room 16.
