Bear Snacks and Fairy Bread

Adding sprinkles
In Term 4 we were looking at Fairy Tales so we decided to make Fairy Bread and Bear Snacks.  Although both yummy snacks needed bread but they were quite different.  The Fairy Bread had sprinkles on it and it was a sweet snack.  The Bear Snacks had toasted bread, sugar and cinnamon to make it brown and slices of banana for the ears and nose.  Raisins added the detail of the eyes and nose.

Our Goldilocks and The Three Bears Stories

This term we have been looking at fairy stories.  The children have enjoyed listening to old favourites as well as new ones and writing their own recounts about them.  Here are some recounts about Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

" Once upon a time there was a cottage in the woods.  The three Bears lived in the cottage.  They liked porridge but not too hot.  Goldilocks liked porridge too and she ate Baby Bear's porridge all up"  Story and picture by Aie Sorn

" The Three Bears were making porridge.  Then Goldilocks walked up the stairs.  Goldilocks sat on Dad's chair but it was too hard.  Mother Bear's chair was too soft and Baby Bear's chair was just right."  Story and picture by Mele

Mele's picture of the three bears going for a walk

"Mother Bear made some porridge and the porridge was too hot so they went for a walk.  Goldilocks came by.  She looked at the three bowls.  There was a hot big bowl and a cold middle sized bowl and one that was just right."  By Isabella

"Goldilocks liked porridge.  Mother Bear made good porridge."  Story and picture by Corenilias

" Goldilocks went to the Bear's house.  She opened the door.  Then she went inside.  She was hungry and she ate the porridge."  Story and picture by Khittamai

"Once upon a time the toru Bears went for a walk.  Goldilocks was eating the porridge.  Father's porridge was too hot.  Mother's was too cold and the little Baby Bear's porridge was just right."  Story and picture by Ofili

Looking at Coding

We have been having fun learning about directions and looking at coding by playing some simple coding games about getting a bee to the hive and avoiding things that are harmful to them.  We also played a game with pirates.  The children have enjoyed thinking about moving on a grid and they have been helping each other get the directions correct.

"What is this for?"  Isabella guessed it was like a map.  Good thinking Isabella

Darren's Robot

Darren built a robot when he was playing with the Duplo before school.  I liked the way he used the blocks to make a head with eyes, a nose and spiky hair, arms and a body.

Making iPad Patterns

We have been learning how to use the tools on our iPads.  We have learnt to take photos, duplicate shapes, lasso and cut out a shape and now we can lock the shape down so that it doesn't move.  Here are some of our efforts.

Our IPad Journey

We are continuing our iPad journey learning how the tools can help us with our learning.  Writing with a stylus was so different than writing in a book but we all managed to find the pencil and write our name.
Darren wrote his name with  his stylus.

Learning How To Play A Game

As part of our first weeks activities we learnt how to play games, being patient and taking turns.  The children enjoyed a memory type game called "Shopping".  Working with a buddy, they had to turn over two tiles then check their shopping list to see if the tiles were on their list.  If the tiles were on their list, they were then placed in their shopping trolley.  Harmeny and Sia worked well together and were the winners.

And the winners were Sia and Harmony.
